ACT Tutoring FAQs
The Enhanced ACT has three core sections: English, Math, and Reading. Science and Writing are now optional sections. The English section tests grammar and rhetoric, Math covers topics through trigonometry, and Reading assesses comprehension. If you choose to take Science, it tests data interpretation and analysis skills.
The Enhanced ACT takes approximately 2 hours for the core sections (English, Math, Reading). If you add optional sections, Science adds 40 minutes and Writing adds 40 minutes. The test is available in both digital and paper formats—you choose which format works best for you.
Your ACT composite score is now based on only the three core sections (English, Math, Reading), each scored 1-36. Your composite is the average of these three scores, rounded to the nearest whole number. If you take the optional Science or Writing sections, those scores are reported separately and do not affect your composite score.
