SAT Tutoring That Delivers Results
Personalized one-on-one SAT prep designed for the Digital SAT. Our expert tutors build a custom study plan around your strengths and target your weakest areas to maximize your score improvement.
What We Cover on the SAT
The Digital SAT tests two core areas. Our tutoring program covers every topic and question type you will encounter, with strategies tailored to the adaptive format.
Evidence-Based Reading & Writing
The Reading and Writing section uses short passages (25-150 words) with one question each, testing your ability to comprehend, analyze, and revise text. We cover:
- Reading comprehension — understanding central ideas, details, inferences, and text structure across literary and informational passages
- Vocabulary in context — determining word meaning and purpose based on surrounding text
- Command of evidence — identifying how authors use evidence, data, and quotations to support claims
- Standard English conventions — grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and usage rules
- Expression of ideas — improving clarity, precision, organization, and rhetorical effectiveness
- Cross-text connections — analyzing how two passages relate, contrast, or complement each other
Math
The Math section allows calculators throughout (including the built-in Desmos graphing calculator) and covers a range of topics from algebra to advanced math. We cover:
- Algebra — linear equations and inequalities, systems of equations, and linear functions
- Advanced math — quadratic and polynomial functions, exponential and radical equations, and rational expressions
- Problem-solving & data analysis — ratios, proportions, percentages, probability, statistics, and data interpretation
- Geometry & trigonometry — area, volume, angles, triangles, circles, and basic trigonometric concepts
- Desmos calculator strategies — using the built-in graphing calculator efficiently to solve problems and verify answers
- Student-produced responses — grid-in questions requiring exact numerical answers without multiple-choice options

Mastering the Digital SAT
The SAT went fully digital in 2024, introducing a new adaptive format that changes the test experience significantly. Our tutoring program is built specifically for this format.
Adaptive Testing Strategy
The Digital SAT uses multistage adaptive testing. Your performance on the first module determines the difficulty of the second. We teach students how to approach each module strategically to reach the harder (and higher-scoring) second module, and how to manage pacing when question difficulty ramps up.
Shorter Test, New Skills
At 2 hours and 14 minutes, the Digital SAT is shorter than previous versions, but the adaptive format demands sharper focus and faster decision-making. Reading passages are much shorter with one question each, requiring quick comprehension. We train students to adapt their reading and problem-solving speed to this new cadence.
Bluebook App Familiarity
The test is taken on College Board's Bluebook application. Our students practice in the actual Bluebook environment so test day feels familiar. We cover built-in tools like the Desmos graphing calculator, answer elimination, flagging questions for review, and navigating the digital interface efficiently under timed conditions.
Why Digital SAT Prep Matters
Many students and families are still adjusting to the Digital SAT. Generic prep materials designed for the old paper SAT miss critical differences in timing, passage length, and the adaptive scoring mechanism. Our program was designed from the ground up for the Digital SAT, ensuring every practice problem, strategy session, and study plan reflects what students will actually encounter on test day.
Whether you are taking the SAT for the first time or retaking it to improve your score, our tutors will help you navigate the digital format with confidence. Learn more about our proven methodology or browse our free SAT resources to start preparing today.

SAT Tutoring FAQ
Answers to the most common questions we hear from students and parents about the SAT and our tutoring program.
What sections are on the SAT?
The Digital SAT has two main sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. The Reading and Writing section tests comprehension, grammar, vocabulary in context, and rhetoric using short passages. The Math section covers algebra, advanced math, problem-solving, data analysis, and geometry. Calculators are allowed throughout the entire Math section, including the built-in Desmos graphing calculator.
How long is the SAT?
The Digital SAT is 2 hours and 14 minutes long. It is divided into two sections: Reading and Writing (64 minutes across two 32-minute adaptive modules) and Math (70 minutes across two 35-minute adaptive modules). There is a 10-minute break between sections. The test is taken digitally using College Board's Bluebook application on a computer or tablet.
How is the SAT scored?
The SAT is scored on a scale of 400 to 1600. Each section (Reading and Writing, and Math) is scored from 200 to 800, and these two scores are added together for your total. The Digital SAT uses multistage adaptive testing, meaning your performance on the first module of each section determines the difficulty of the second module. There is no penalty for guessing, so you should answer every question.
How much can SAT tutoring improve my score?
Our students see an average improvement of 156 points on the SAT, with a 100% score improvement rate for students who complete our program. Individual results vary based on starting score, commitment to practice, and the number of tutoring hours. Students who complete 10 or more hours of tutoring and consistently complete assigned homework see the strongest gains.
What is the digital SAT format?
The Digital SAT, introduced in 2024, is taken entirely on a computer or tablet using College Board's Bluebook app. It uses multistage adaptive testing: each section has two modules, and the difficulty of the second module adjusts based on your first-module performance. Passages in Reading and Writing are shorter (25-150 words each with one question per passage), the test is shorter overall, and students receive scores faster than with the old paper SAT.
When should I start SAT prep?
Most students benefit from starting SAT preparation 3 to 6 months before their test date. Juniors typically take the SAT in the spring (March or May), so beginning prep in the fall or early winter of junior year is ideal. However, some students start as early as sophomore year for a more gradual approach. We recommend taking a diagnostic test first to determine your baseline score and create a timeline that works for your goals.
How does online SAT tutoring work?
Our online SAT tutoring sessions take place via video conferencing with interactive tools including shared whiteboards, screen sharing, and digital practice materials. Each session is one-on-one with your assigned tutor, who customizes instruction to your specific needs. Between sessions, you receive targeted homework assignments and have access to practice materials. We also offer in-person and hybrid options for students who prefer face-to-face instruction.
Is the SAT easier than the ACT?
Neither test is inherently easier. The SAT and ACT test similar skills but in different formats. The SAT emphasizes evidence-based reasoning with shorter passages and includes a built-in graphing calculator, while the ACT has a Science section and generally requires faster pacing. Many students score comparably on both tests, but some perform significantly better on one. We recommend taking a diagnostic for each test to determine which format suits your strengths. Our tutors can help you decide.
